{project 52} Evoking You: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall!

Family Time: It's kind of a big deal!

I was so grateful to be able to go "home" for the holidays. I grew up in Utah, in an extremely close family. As my siblings and I have grown older we've spread throughout the country. This Christmas we were able to manage getting all five of us, in the same state at one time. That's pretty darn miraculous! Since niece and nephew time is pretty rare I took a few moments throughout our time together to snap some candid images. I will post the family images soon as well!

A Wonderful Year!

My little Princess finally got GIRLY!

I was so excited to have a daughter because I wanted to dress her and style her and have my own live doll. Then I met my baby girl, sweet and angelic--but a little spitfire ready to rumble in the mud. Of my three children she is always the stickiest, the dirtiest and occasionally the naughtiest. But when the package showed up on my doorstep containing tutus and hair flowers it was as if her fairy godmother arrived and completely transformed her! I love my Brooklyn girl, she is the most precious little trouble maker in the world!

Getting Acquainted: Loni Newby Photography Meets Alamogordo NM

I've been told it doesn't snow a whole lot around here, so I made an effort to get out despite the chill to capture some of the scenery that now surrounds me.

I grew up in Utah, so I have always been drawn to mountains. This combination of desert and mountains combines attributes of many of the places that we have lived recently. Las Vegas, NV and Clovis, NM blended into one quaint city, minus the alcohol and neon.

I hope you enjoy my efforts at capturing some of the beauty of the area that I now call home!

Is it about the toes or the nose? Iheartfaces.com entry

I snapped this gem shortly after I snagged my camera for my original intended footsy picture, though that shot was lots of fun, this is truly a classic! I fully intend on making a print of this for when my darling daughter reaches the dating age!!

Style & Preparation Tips for your Session!

For all portrait sessions with Loni Newby Photography clients are more than welcome to bring any items that are special to them to use as props. When shooting on location, it is important to work with each client to find the perfect place to truly capture the style that is desired. When photographers say: "On location" often times that means in one or two different places that they have scoped out. I try to accommodate by finding an appropriate setting based on the type of session as well as the desired outcome. There is a huge difference in Urban, Rustic, Contemporary, Outdoorsy and a variety of other options. Trust me ladies and gents, I've only lived here a few weeks and know full well there are many other places than just White Sands or Cloudcroft! (Though both are gorgeous and truly do make lovely backdrops.)

As far as accessories go, I say: Bring 'em all! I'd rather sort through an entire wardrobe to find the perfect piece to make a stylish image than have too few items to find that perfect pop!

Ladies, be bold. Bright colors, fun dresses. Those outftits that you have picked out for a special occasion that just hasn't come up yet--it's time!

Matching is a-ok in my book, but by all means is not a necessity for family photos. I love when clients wear clothes that are comfortable and stylish, but also give a peek into each individuals character. It may be a necklace, a pair of boots, a tie, a baseball cap or cowboy hat that makes the image your own.

I am happy to share ideas, wardrobe boards via pinterest and past examples to help you get the perfect images!

As always, if you have any questions just holler!! :) -Loni
